Manga

Okay in my future career I wish to become a manga artist or a illustrator. However am unsure of what courses I should take... i've asked the main university's and they ain't telling me anyhting except 'i don't know' type of answers. I'm also unsure of what type of catigory manga falls under such as books or visual art?
can anyone help me out?

Nah it wasn't rude... anyway I'm nineteen, I don't go to school anymore Kinda by choice, I'm looking to become a tattoo artist, but it isn't going so well.
